The first book in the series sets up the universe — an alternate history starting in 2004. The world is the same as ours, but a chain of events will lead to a very different future.
The main characters are Jonathan Erikson, a highly gifted young entrepreneur who will invent a revolutionary artificial intelligence he names Zara. Together with his college friend Josh, they build the company Stareyes. Thanks to this AI, Stareyes provides high-performance computer systems to its clients. Jonathan and his team then develop numerous technological innovations in fields such as clean energy (hydrogen) and flying transportation.
One of these inventions allows an artificial intelligence named Karl to be connected to prosthetic limbs for people with disabilities. Elena Peeters becomes the first person to join the program. Her mindset and determination help improve and expand the project.
Despite all these altruistic actions, Jonathan and Stareyes attract the wrath and jealousy of powerful enemies operating in the shadows — shell companies and deep state actors. These forces will stop at nothing to prevent the heroes from achieving their goals.
